Schofield featured as a midfielder/forward with Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL Under 18s and impressed at the state draft combine, placing in the top five of each event except the 2km Time Trial.

Port Adelaide currently has two father-son players on its list with midfielder Jackson Mead and rookie forward Trent Burgoyne each claimed by the club at the end of 2019.

Port Adelaide currently holds picks 35, 47, 57, 59, 73 and 95 at the draft.
