Ollie Wines was the sole recipient of votes from the coaches in Round 9

PORT ADELAIDE midfielder Ollie Wines was the only player to receive votes from the coaches after Saturday night’s disappointing loss to the Western Bulldogs.

Wines picked up two votes in the AFL Coaches Association AFL Champion Player of the Year Award after racking up an equal game-high 32 disposals.

The vice-captain helped lift his side after quarter time, finishing with five marks, eight tackles and five clearances and his second-quarter goal put the team in front, having trailed by 25 points at the first break.

The points mean Wines remains eight points behind the overall leader Hugh McCluggage from Brisbane, who also picked up two points in his side’s win over Gold Coast.

Bulldog Tom Liberatore was one of five players across the competition to pick up the perfect ten votes along with Geelong’s Cam Guthrie, Brisbane’s Jarryd Lyons, Essendon’s Darcy Parish and Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver.
