Orazio Fantasia is in contention to return to the side after a week off with knee soreness.

SPEEDY FORWARD Orazio Fantasia is in contention to return to the Port Adelaide line up for Sunday’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash with Fremantle.

Fantasia missed the trip to Melbourne to face Collingwood with knee soreness but has been cleared to return if he completes training during the week.

There are a host of other players who are in the mix for selection after a strong SANFL showing where the club fought back to beat 2020 Grand Finalist North Adelaide.

Sam Mayes was probably best on ground with 32 disposals, eight clearances and nine tackles in a dominant midfield display, doing his chances of a return to the AFL line-up no harm.

Martin Frederick showcased his trademark run and carry with a career high 29 disposals off half back and on the wing, also adding three clearances.

After being the AFL medical substitute for two weeks in-a-row, Frederick showed no signs of a lack of game time to push his claims for an immediate recall.

Forward Boyd Woodcock was a dominant force against the side he won a premiership with as a teenager. He booted 3.2 from 19 disposals and helped spark a third quarter revival when the Roosters started to get on top.

With Port to face the Dockers on Sunday, the club will name an extended squad on Thursday before trimming it down to 22 on Friday evening.

Sunday’s game at Adelaide Oval will get underway at 4:10pm ACST.
