Coming to Port Adelaide as a promising midfielder via the 2016 National Draft, Willem Drew is one of the Power's emerging crop of young guns. Originally from North Ballarat, he has shown signs of his ability to play on the inside or outside as well as pushing forward to kick goals. A big-bodied midfielder renowned for his decision making under pressure, Drew’s AFL career has so far been stifled by foot injuries.
A shoulder injury to Ollie Wines in 2019 opened the door for Drew to make his AFL debut in the Round 1 win over Melbourne and he averaged 16 disposals and six tackles across ten games before injury limited him again in 2020. The highly-rated midfielder will be hoping for a better run of luck with injury in order to play more footy in 2021.
