At a glance Junior Clubs: Henley Sharks Clubs: West Coast, Port Adelaide Debut:2008 Recruited From:West Coast Sponsors: Adelaide Signs, Oxygen Building Group Ebert’s no-fuss style makes him one of the toughest players on the club’s list. He is also one of its hardest workers, super courageous and his incredible endurance means he runs all day. TIMELINE 2012 Ebert returned to Alberton during the 2011 trade period having previously played with Port Adelaide’s SANFL team prior to being drafted in 2007. His season saw him consistently feature in the club’s best players as he emerged as the Power’s best-contested player. Ebert played all 22 games of the season, kicking 17 goals and racking up 504 disposals – the second most in the team. He was awarded the Fos Williams Medal for the club’s best team man as voted by his teammates and polled the highest of any Port Adelaide player in the Brownlow Medal count. 2013 The Power's vice-captain began the year playing across half-back and, while his performances were solid, struggled to have the same influence as he did in 2012. But a switch with Matthew Broadbent that saw Ebert move into the midfield proved to be a masterstroke. The gut-running midfielder enjoyed a purple-patch mid-season which saw teams beginning to tag him ahead of the usual suspects in Travis Boak and Hamish Hartlett. Perhaps Ebert's best performance came in Round 23 against Carlton. Donning the club's famous prison-bar guernsey - which has been worn by so many greats in his family - Ebert was dominant, booting four goals and racking up 23 touches as the Power fell by a point to the Blues. 2014 Another consistent year for the Power’s vice-captain ranking in the top five at the club for disposals, clearances, inside 50s, contested possessions and tackles. Amassed a career-high 40 disposals against the Swans at the SCG in Round 13 and received three Brownlow votes for his 26 disposals and 2 goals against his old side in Round 5. 2015 Ebert was solid in 2015 without hitting his best form on a consistent basis. However, he polled 10 Brownlow Medal votes and still averaged more than 23 disposals a game. He is a ferocious tackler and his work on the inside is always of the highest quality. 2016 Mixed his season between hard-edged midfield duties and playing forward. His uncompromising approach to the game saw him earn the respect of the footy world - literally bleeding for Port Adelaide on multiple occasions through the year thanks to his head-over-the-ball attack. 2017 2017 was a prolific season for the no. 7 at Port Adelaide. Ebert collected the second-most disposals for the Power – averaging 25 touches a game, while his gut-running was again on show. 2018 Ebert was slightly down in 2018, averaging 20.5 disposals a game. He was brilliant against North Melbourne in Round 6, where he collected 33 touches. The veteran often had a run-with role this season.
