Originally hailing from Ballarat, Lachie Charleson was selected by Port Adelaide with its second pick in the 2023 AFL National Draft (52 overall). Charleson was known as one of the best applicators of defensive pressure in the 2023 draft pool, with his speed and intensity, including a penchant for big goal celebrations a feature of his game.
The 20-year-old Victorian forward has benefited from training alongside fellow pressure forwards Sam Powell-Pepper, Joe Richards and Darcy Byrne-Jones, putting in some strong SANFL performances over 2024 and 2025.
Charleson's contract was not renewed at the conclusion of the 2025 season, bringing his time at Port Adelaide to a close.

Lachie Charleson, Tom Anastasopolous, Will Lorenz and Xavier Walsh speak to the media following their first day at the club.
The Port Adelaide Football Club acknowledges the land on which we train and play, are based on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We also acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of Australia and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living people today.
