OLLIE Wines travels to Melbourne this weekend holding the title as the reigning Brownlow Medallist after taking home the prestigious award in 2021.

Coming off a career-best season where he averaged more than 32 disposals a game, Wines polled a total of 36 Brownlow votes last year – equalling the record set by Dustin Martin in 2017.

Wines’ count was by far the best tally by a Port Adelaide player, beating the 22 votes Chad Cornes received in the 2004 Premiership season.

He polled in 16 games, a new Brownlow record, including eight games where he received the maximum three votes.

Wines finished three votes ahead of Marcus Bontempelli and five votes ahead of Clayton Oliver – the latter widely regarded as one of the frontrunners for the 2022 honour.

While Wines stands as Port Adelaide’s only winner, Travis Boak is no stranger to hearing his name called on Brownlow night.

The midfielder boasts the most Brownlow votes of any Port Adelaide player, having tallied 164 votes across his 16 seasons.

He is one of two players to tally 100 Brownlow votes for the club, joined now by Ollie Wines (107). With Robbie Gray retiring (currently sitting on 97 votes), the two midfielders are likely to remain as the sole Port Adelaide pair to have cracked the ton for at least the next few years.

Connor Rozee is predicted to poll the most votes for Port Adelaide in the 2022 count off the back of his maiden All-Australian selection.

The silky midfielder has polled five votes across his young career, however a career-best season on-field is all but certain to see that number increase on Sunday night.
