Weeks after achieving its official club membership record, the club has also broken its AFL-audited record for another year.

Port Adelaide’s club membership number for 2023 has finished at a record 69,457, with the AFL today confirming the audited number is also a record 64,041 members in 2023.

This number represents more than a 9% increase on last year’s AFL audited record.

With a dual focus on member retention and building the next generation of Port Adelaide fans, the club has welcomed significant increases in the junior, youth and family categories, with more than 15,000 new members joining the club in 2023.

The AFL audit applies criteria across the league’s 18 clubs to provide a standardised view of membership club-by-club and AFL-wide each year.

The primary difference between Port Adelaide’s official club member number, and the AFL audited number, is the allocation of the Adelaide Oval stadium members who have access to all the Port Adelaide games, with Port Adelaide allocated 2,584 (32.3%) of the 8,000 members.

Port Adelaide Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Richardson says these outstanding results are driven by the passion and commitment of our long-term members, together with strong growth off the back of our AFLW program, incredible match day experience at Adelaide Oval, and a continued focus on building the next generation of Port Adelaide.

“This record and the significant growth we’ve experience in 2023 is thanks to the passionate support of our long-term members, combined with strong momentum in our new members, especially kids and families,” Mr. Richardson said.

“Welcoming over 15,000 new members to Port Adelaide with significant growth in critical demographics to build the next generation, whilst ensuring we remain strongly focused on servicing our loyal long-term members, is critical to us achieving our ambitious growth targets over the next few years.

“At the same time, we recognise the importance of our on-field performances and the profile of our AFL and AFLW playing groups. We have young and exciting lists with young stars who do an incredible job in engaging with our members and fans.

“We are excited about what’s ahead both on and off field and look forward to sharing that with our people. The Port Adelaide Football Club has been built generation after generation on the support and passion of our people, and we can’t thank them enough for the passion and energy they provide.”
