The club is combining with the Adelaide Crows, Adelaide Strikers, Adelaide Lightning and Adelaide Thunderbirds to join forces in an effort to drive crowds to women’s sporting events

Yartapuulti has joined representatives from the South Australian Government and other women’s teams in national competitions to launch ‘The Power of Her’ initiative, which will see all codes working together to promote women’s sport.

Following on from the success of the Malinauskas Government’s Women in Leadership symposium ‘The Power of Her’, held during the FIFA Women’s World Cup, South Australia’s national sporting teams have harnessed this momentum to boost support for women’s sport.

Yartapuulti will combine with the Adelaide Crows, Adelaide Strikers, Adelaide Lightning and Adelaide Thunderbirds to join forces in an effort to drive crowds to women’s sporting events and showcase some of the country’s best and brightest female athletes.

In conjunction with the State Government, all six clubs will encourage their own members and fans to support a key game for the other teams, in a bid to sell out each of these games.

Head of AFLW Juliet Haslam is pleased to be involved in an initiative that will benefit female athletes across multiple sports.

"The Power of Her is an important initiative that connects six clubs and associations, all with a common goal – to promote and recognise some of the most talented female athletes in the country,” Haslam said.

"As a football club, we are incredibly passionate about giving our AFLW footballers the resources, support and spotlight they deserve, and we are excited for the opportunity to help showcase women in sport, across all codes.

"I would encourage all sport fans to show their support and head along to some of the feature games. Together, we can continue to drive gender equality."

The initiative builds on the Malinauskas Government’s commitment to empower women and girls in sport and to advance gender equality, including through the legacy possible from the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

An $18 million grant program will be delivered over the next three years, dedicated to female sporting facilities and programs that grow female participation.
