THERE were mixed results for Port Adelaide’s AFLW players playing in the SANFLW competition at the weekend.

At Richmond Oval, Ella Boag and Piper Window’s Glenelg just edged out Lauren Young’s West Adelaide in a low scoring game to keep the Bays on top of the SANFLW ladder.

Window continued her strong early season form with 1.2 from 24 disposals. She also had five tackles and five clearances. Boag also contributed strongly with 20 disposals and five tackles. Young was kept to eleven touches for the Bloods.

North Adelaide kicked the first two goals at Richmond Oval against Norwood but after a goalless first half, the Redlegs booted the next six majors to seal a second straight win.

Both Mollly Brooksby and Sachi Syme were among Norwood’s better performers on the day. Brooksby had 15 touches, two tackles and a clearance while Syme had 13 disposals to go with five tackles and four clearances.

Katelyn Pope (18 disposals, three tackles, three clearances) and Amelie Borg (16 disposals, seven marks, five tackles) did their bit for the Roosters, who remain winless after four matches.

The result sees Norwood sneaking back into the competition’s top four.

Shineah Goody had a game-high 22 disposals, seven tackles and four clearances but it wasn’t enough as her Woodville-West Torrens side went down by 35 points to South Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

It was a similar story at Elizabeth where Olivia Levicki’s dominance in the ruck could not help Central District over the line against Sturt.

Levicki had 28 hit-outs – the most of anyone on the ground – along with 13 disposals, four tackles and two clearances.

Julia Teakle booted 2.1 for the Bulldogs, to go with four tackles and 11 disposals.

A number of Port Adelaide’s AFLW players have been released to play for SANFLW clubs for the opening five rounds of the SANFLW season, before they return to Alberton officially in early June for the start of their AFLW pre-season.
