SAM POWELL-PEPPER and Ollie Wines could return to the Port Adelaide line-up for Saturday night’s big clash with Fremantle.

Powell-Pepper has yet to feature in the 2024 Premiership season, having been suspended for four matches for an incident in a pre-season trial game.

The 26-year-old recently appointed leadership group member will be itching to play after missing the opening four rounds, however Powell-Pepper may need to come back through the SANFL and make the trip to Waikerie to face West Adelaide on Sunday.

Wines sat out the Gather Round win over Essendon after experiencing hamstring tightness a week earlier but the 29-year-old has been training well and pushing his case to return against the Dockers.

Before his injury, Wines had been averaging 24.7 disposals per game to go with 7.7 clearances, ranking him as elite amongst other midfielders in the competition.

The SANFL took a break for a state game at the weekend so no Port Adelaide player had the chance to impress the AFL selectors, however prior to the bye experienced campaigners Trent McKenzie and Tom Clurey were among the AFL emergencies along with fellow backman Dylan Williams and ruck Jordon Sweet, who is still waiting to make his club debut after his off-season trade from the Western Bulldogs.

Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name its side to tackle Fremantle.

Saturday night’s game gets underway at 7:00pm at Adelaide Oval. Tickets are still available.
