PORT ADELAIDE could welcome back the experience of Travis Boak for Saturday’s clash with Collingwood.

Boak suffered a back injury and was subbed out of the Round 3 win over Essendon.

Having missed the narrow victory over Fremantle at the weekend, the 35-year-old has resumed training with a view to proving his fitness to return.

While there are no immediate injury or suspension concerns hanging over AFL selection, there were some strong SANFL performances that may give the selectors something to think about.

Ruck Jordon Sweet continues to press his claims for a club debut following his off-season move from the Western Bulldogs.

Sweet was the dominant big man at Waikerie Oval in the SANFL game against West Adelaide, finishing with a game-high 37 hit-outs and an equal game-high seven clearances to go with his 19 disposals and eight tackles. The 26-year-old also contributed on the scoreboard with two goals.

Playing on the ball for large periods, Francis Evans had 22 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles and three clearances

Trent McKenzie was busy in the backline, picking up a team-high 24 possessions and having six marks to go with a game-high nine rebound 50s before being forced from the field under the blood rule in the crucial dying stages of the match.

Tom Clurey (18 disposals, seven marks, one goal) and Josh Sinn (22 disposals, nine marks, two tackles and a goal) also performed strongly, with Clurey spending the opening of the match on the wing before being forced into the backline after an injury to teammate Miller Carter.

Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name its side to tackle Collingwood.

Saturday’s game against the reigning premier gets underway at 1:15pm ACST / 1:45pm AEST at the MCG.
