IN: Young 22

OUT: Sowden 32 (omitted)

Port Adelaide forward Lauren Young will make her long-awaited AFLW debut this Saturday at Alberton Oval against Geelong.

The 20-year-old will don the black, white, and teal for the first time after an ACL rupture and subsequent setbacks kept her sidelined for an extended period. Standing at 178cm, Young adds valuable height to the Port Adelaide line-up and has been named on the interchange.

Renowned for her strong contested marking, she was signed by the Power during the 2023 Expansion U18 Talent Pathway Pre-Signing Period after progressing through the club’s academy program, and will now add AFLW footballer to her growing list of impressive accolades.

Young becomes the fifth player to debut for the Port Adelaide this season, joining Jasmine Sowden, Chloe Gaunt, Lily Paterson and Jasmine Evans.

Fresh off making her debut against the Demons in Round 5, Evans will play her second consecutive AFLW game, named in the forward line alongside Justine Mules-Robinson, Gemma Houghton, Abbey Dowrick and Chloe Gaunt.

Tickets for the home clash against Geelong at Alberton are on sale now.

The Power will face the Cats from 12:35pm ACST on Saturday, with the match broadcast live on Fox Footy, Kayo, and 7 from 12:30pm ACST.
