Port Adelaide Football Club has informed Chloe Gaunt and Jasmine Evans that they will not be offered contracts for the 2027 AFLW season.Â
Both players joined the club through the 2024 AFLW Draft, with Gaunt selected at pick 48 and Evans at pick 33.Â
A 182cm key position forward, Gaunt made her AFLW debut in 2025 after being drafted from the Gold Coast Suns Academy.Â
The 19-year-old went on to play seven games in her debut season, showcasing her ability to provide a strong target inside 50 and impact the scoreboard.Â
Gaunt was unable to feature during the 2026 season due to injury and will take some time over the off-season to consider her football future.Â
South Australian Evans was selected from Central Districts, where she was part of the club's 2023 SANFLW premiership side.Â
The 20-year-old made her AFLW debut in 2025, playing six games in her first season at the highest level.Â
A versatile player capable of playing forward or on the wing, Evans impressed with her skill and composure during her debut campaign.Â
She battled injury throughout the 2026 season and was unable to break into the senior side in the latter part of the year.Â
Port Adelaide Head of AFLW Dan Merrett thanked both players for their contributions to the program.Â
"Both Chloe and Jasmine have worked hard during their time at Port Adelaide, and we thank them for their commitment to the football club," Merrett said.Â
"While injuries have impacted their 2026 seasons, both players have demonstrated professionalism and dedication to the club and to continuing to develop their game.Â
"We wish Chloe and Jasmine all the best for whatever comes next, both in football and beyond."Â
Gaunt and Evans’ departures give Port Adelaide four selections at the 2026 AFLW Draft on December 14, following the recent retirement announcements of Justine Mules-Robinson and Kirsty Lamb.Â
