Port Adelaide’s Matilda Scholz and Indy Tahau have capped off their stellar seasons with maiden selections in the AFLW All-Australian team, marking a momentous milestone in the club’s history as the first two female players to earn the honour.

All-Australian selection is one of the highest individual accolades in the AFLW, recognising players who have consistently performed at the elite level throughout the season.

For Scholz and Tahau, it caps off landmark campaigns in which both players cemented their status among the competition’s best.

Fresh from claiming her second consecutive club Best and Fairest, Scholz once again proved herself as one of the league’s premier rucks.

She starred in every game of the 2025 season, averaging 17 disposals, 22.8 hitouts and six score involvements per match, while regularly dominating stoppages and providing a driving force for the Power’s midfield.

Her selection on the interchange in the All-Australian team recognises not only her consistency but her ability to produce standout performances when it matters most, including a four-goal haul against the Gold Coast Suns in a game that showcased her versatility and natural football intelligence.

Tahau’s journey from a defensive role to league-leading forward in 2025 has been nothing short of remarkable.

Named in the forward line in the All-Australian side, she topped the AFLW goal-kicking ladder with 25 goals, setting a record for the most goals in a single AFLW season.

The talented forward made a strong return from a serious knee injury, producing a standout season highlighted by a 16-disposal performance against Hawthorn, where she booted five majors and laid six tackles.

Tahau’s ability to impact games both inside 50 and around the ground, combined with her athleticism and aerial prowess, make the 23-year-old one of the competition’s most dynamic and influential utility players.

Port Adelaide’s Head of AFLW Shane Grimm congratulated both Scholz and Tahau on their achievement.

“All-Australian selection is a thoroughly deserved honour for both Matilda and Indy. They’ve each had outstanding and consistent seasons, quickly becoming cornerstones of our team,” Grimm said.

“They are the first two Port Adelaide AFLW players to earn final selection in the All-Australian side, which makes this even more significant. We’re incredibly proud of them.”

Scholz and Tahau received their maiden blazers at the league’s W Awards at Centrepiece in Melbourne on Monday evening, with Tahau’s record-breaking 25-goal season also recognised on the night.
