PORT ADELAIDE will wear the club’s popular silver guernsey as its clash strip when required for selected away games in 2019.

The Power will now wear the silver alternate guernsey in favour of the previous white strip, which will now be worn in the club’s two pre-season JLT games in early March.

The silver guernsey was introduced for last year’s JLT series and AFLX competition, and proved popular among the playing group especially, as well the fans.

Port Adelaide’s Executive General Manager Matthew Richardson said while the white strip has been worn as the club’s clash jumper for 10 years, the opportunity to elevate the silver strip into the premiership season received positive feedback from the players.

“The feedback from the playing group was that they loved the strength of the silver strip, compared with white – and it was also popular among our supporters,” said Mr Richardson.

But he reassured supporters the club’s traditional black jumper will remain the first-choice uniform at all home and away games where possible.

“We always wear black whenever we can – at both home and away games - and that won’t change in 2019,” he said.

“In 2018 we wore the white clash jumper on a handful of occasions and we anticipate this will be the same with the silver guernsey for 2019”.

The silver clash guernsey will be worn with black or white shorts depending on the opponent and black socks.

Port Adelaide’s colours since joining the national competition in 1997 have been silver, teal and the traditional black and white.
