PORT Adelaide will consider putting a tagger on Carlton's contested ball king Patrick Cripps if he gets off the leash in Saturday's encounter at Adelaide Oval.

It would be a change of tack for the Power, which successfully put their midfield head-to-head with Melbourne in their 26-point upset of the Demons at the MCG last Saturday.

But Power assistant coach Brett Montgomery said all options would be on the table to keep Cripps from taking over the game.

"We've got guys who can do jobs like that if we need to call upon them," Montgomery said on Friday.

"There's always a Plan B, Plan C – players catch fire all the time.

"Carlton have got a really good pool of talent at their disposal right now.

"They're trying to form a really good team.

"I think there's a lot of similarities in terms of the excitement they're trying to build, so we need to be on our toes."

The Power have selected the same 22 that knocked off the Demons, with no room for key defender Dougal Howard.

It leaves Ryan Burton or Jack Watts to help out Tom Jonas and Tom Clurey in defending Blues talls Harry McKay (204cm), Charlie Curnow (192cm) and Mitch McGovern (191cm).

"We won't change too much about the way we defend," Montgomery said.

"It's certainly their group against our group, rather than a one versus one match-up.

"The game's changed a lot around that.

"Our defence is more of a holistic view; how can we cover their six or seven forwards with our six or seven backs?

"I don't think you'll see too many match-ups stick for the entire game."

Power forward Todd Marshall has been cleared to play after passing concussion tests this week, while Kane Farrell is the emergency and trained with the team on Friday morning.
