Port Adelaide ruck Jordon Sweet has been rewarded with a fresh four-year deal, extending the 28-year-old’s time in Power colours through until 2030.

Sweet has been in career-best form in 2026, averaging 12.6 disposals, 9.1 contested possessions, 30.7 hitouts and 4.9 clearances, while also hitting the scoreboard with 10 goals.

After missing out on selection in Round 1, Sweet has gone on to become Josh Carr’s number one ruck, playing the next 21 games straight, often with tag-team ruck support from Dante Visentini.

Picked up in the 2018 rookie draft by the Western Bulldogs, Sweet later made his way to Port Adelaide in the 2023 trade period, leaning on his relationship with Carr who coached him to a SANFL premiership at North Adelaide.

The South Australian product has played 68 AFL games between his two clubs after making his debut in 2021.

“I am really grateful for four more years at Port Adelaide,” Sweet said.

“As a childhood Port supporter, coming home to this club in 2023 was a dream come true and I’ve loved my time here.

“Josh Carr was a big part of getting me to the club and he’s been a great believer in me since.

“The players, the staff and the coaches are what I love most about Port Adelaide, and I’m really excited to continue my career here.”

List manager Jason Cripps was pleased to secure the 206-centimetre ruck’s signature.

“Since coming to the club, Jordon has had to work really hard to put himself in the number one ruck position,” Cripps said.

“His commitment to training and improving himself as a player has been outstanding over the past three seasons, and he deserves this extension.

“As a senior player, Jordon also has the opportunity to work alongside our young rucks and support their growth.

“No doubt he will continue to be an important part of our midfield group over the coming years.”
