PORT ADELAIDE will head north to Port Pirie this Saturday afternoon to face Adelaide in the SANFL showdown.

In a much-anticipated clash for the local fans, the third-placed Magpies will take on the top-of-the-table Crows at Memorial Oval.

Port coach Matt Lokan is expecting a fierce battle with both sides in good form, and knows his side must be at its to best to get the two points.

“I can’t wait, I think Adelaide is the best side in the competition at the moment and sitting on top,” he said.

“It will be another big challenge to go to Pirie on Saturday.

“I am one of those guys who loves those country games, I think it is good for the competition and good for us.

“If we have a similar side to what we had last week it will be great for the country people to see guys like Sam Jacobs and Paddy Ryder running around, it is great for the competition.”

Both sides are in form, with Port Adelaide winning its last four matches, including a big 77-point victory over West Adelaide last week, while Adelaide has not lost a match since Round 1.

The last time the two sides met, the Crows triumphed by 16 points in a high-scoring tussle at Alberton Oval in Round 7.

Josh Jenkins starred for Adelaide in that match, kicking six goals and providing the youthful Magpies defenders a fantastic learning experience, while Tyson Stengle booted four and Darcy Fogarty two.

The Magpies narrowly lead the SANFL Showdown head-to-head tally with a 6-5 record from the 11 encounters since the Crows entered the competition in 2014.

Both sides will be wearing their Indigenous guernseys for the clash, in celebration of the Statewide Super League Indigenous Round.

The clash will headline a massive weekend of football in the regional city with the SA Country Football Championships also held in Port Pirie across the weekend.

The game will commence at 2.40pm at Memorial Oval on Memorial Drive, Port Pirie.
