WE shared it once on social media but we finally had time to visit the ultimate Port Adelaide man cave, and it didn’t disappoint.

Whyalla man Anthony Lynch has dedicated thousands of dollars and years of his life to collecting all sorts of Port Adelaide memorabilia.

Everything from match-worn guernseys to bottles of Port Adelaide port, and match-worn boots to specially made Port Adelaide wine drums can be found in the fully decked out man cave in Anthony’s back shed.

Even the walls are specially painted with Power and Magpies designs and light displays.

“It’s probably been about four years in the making and a lot of money,” Anthony said.

“There’s a lot of match-worn guernseys and a lot of other stuff like bottles of port and special mirrors and all bits and pieces.

“It has cost a lot of money, the guernseys alone I’m guessing are at $25,000 in market value.”

Since we first shared photos of his man cave in January, it’s had a revamp which make it even better.

Among Anthony’s most prized possessions is a guernsey worn by former Power Captain Dom Cassisi during the 2004 AFL Grand Final.

He insists his wife supports his collecting, but some of his friends aren’t as keen.

“The wife supports it, I guess,” he said with a smirk.

“I have a lot of Crows mates and they always tell me they still feel sick when they come in here for a beer – because at the end of the day I still use it as a man cave and we have some damn good times in here.

“But my Port Adelaide friends absolutely love it.”

Tracking down items he doesn’t have has actually become easier over the years.

“When you start spending a bit of money like I have been people start to seek you out,” Anthony said.

“But I’ve also used Ebay and Gumtree, I even have friends from other clubs that find bits and pieces around so they hit me up and I return the favour when I can.

“This kind of stuff is pretty popular at the moment, it’s probably at the top end for collectors because we’ve got a lot of passionate supporters.”

Anthony’s support of Port Adelaide isn’t limited to adorning his man cave with memorabilia.

At every opportunity he is on the highway to Adelaide to catch his beloved Power playing at Adelaide Oval.

“I get to the majority of the Power games,” he said.

“I’m heavily tied up in the Roopena Football Club up here in Whyalla and coaching my young lad but I’ll get to as many games as I can in Adelaide.”
