PORT ADELAIDE has applied to the AFL to elevate Jarrod Lienert to its senior list as its mid-season nominated rookie.

The 23-year-old has earned promotion playing every game for the Magpies in the SANFL this season and impressing in a key defensive role.

Lienert was chosen by Port Adelaide at pick 42 in this year’s Rookie Draft.

The club retains the option of elevating another rookie at some stage after young ruckman Billy Frampton’s recent move to the long-term injury list.
