PORT ADELAIDE’S World’s Greatest Shave and Colour team have easily exceeded their fundraising goal after an incredible show of support from the Port Adelaide Football Club community.

Thirty coaches and players took part in the event, either shaving or dying their hair at The Port Club last Thursday night.

DONATE TO THE TEAM

It’s an event close to their hearts, given they’re raising the funds in support of one of their own – Magpies Academy player and good mate Kyran Dixon - who was diagnosed with blood cancer late last year.

The boys hit their goal of $2,000 just after 4pm on Thursday – an incredible feat - thanks to the support and donations of the Port Adelaide Football Club and its supporters.

They’ve since blown that number out of the park, climbing to $2,800 in donations towards the Leukaemia Foundation and blood cancer research.

Fellow Magpies player Will Northeast and Academy coach Mark Clayton are now proudly sporting buzz cuts along with football manager Scott Peters and players Louis Sharrad, Ben Sawford and Tom Corcoran.

Northeast told portadelaidefc.com.au both Dixon and the fundraising group have been absolutely blown away by the support of the Port Adelaide community.

“It was a great night and we can’t thank the Port Adelaide Football Club community enough for all of their support,” Northeast said.

“It speaks volumes about the community spirit of this club, and we’re proud to be a part of it.

“We want to thank everyone who came along on the night or donated to our team.”

Dixon was there on Thursday night to witness his coaches and teammates brave the shave.

By all reports he’s doing very well.

“Kyran is doing great – he’s staying really positive,” Northeast said.

“He had his last session of chemo on Thursday before the event, so it was a pretty big day for him all-round.”

The team will continue to take online and cash donations for another few days.
