A RUCKMAN will come into the Port Adelaide side to host Sydney at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, but it isn't Matthew Lobbe.

Jarrad Redden will play his first premiership season game since Round 10, 2013 after being named in the Power's Round 2 team.

It will be 679 days between AFL appearances for the Yorke Peninsula product.

He replaced John Butcher who has been omitted from the Power's line-up following his late call-up last Sunday.

Lobbe failed to pass a fitness test for his strained quad prior to selection, and will continue through his recovery next week.

"Matty couldn't get through his fitness test this week, and he'll continue progressing through his rehab next week," Port Adelaide's head of high performance Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

"We're not going to risk him this early in the season and will make sure he returns fully fit as soon as possible."

Four set for SANFL debut

THREE players are set to make their League debuts on Friday night when Port Adelaide plays its first SANFL game against South Adelaide.

Garry Hocking's side is a significant shake-up from the one that lost to Norwood in last year's grand final; gone are Campbell Heath, Lewis Stevenson, Cam Hitchcock, Daniel Flynn and Ben Newton from the side that played that day.

Paul Stewart, Aaron Young and Kane Mitchell have also been held over as emergencies for the club's AFL game on Saturday night.

Taking their place will be new draftees Logan Austin and Jesse Palmer, as well as SANFL League-listed player Jonathon Ross.

Also named for their first League games for Port Adelaide are Johann Wagner and Luke Wilson.
