BIO

One of the modern champions of Australian Football, Michael Voss joined Port Adelaide for the 2015 season as the club's midfield manager.

Voss has, arguably, the most distinguished career of any player in the post-1989 AFL era.

Drafted to the Brisbane Bears in 1992, he would forge a career as one of the league's exceptional midfielders.

He won the Brownlow Medal in 1996 - the Bears' final year - and would become the inaugural captain of the Brisbane Lions following the merger of the Bears and Fitzroy at the end of 1996.

Voss quickly built an enviable list of achievements, most notably his leadership of the Lions to three consecutive premierships in 2001, 2002 and 2003, and four grand final appearances in total.

A club champion for the Lions in 2000, 2001 and 2003, as well as five All-Australian selections, Voss remains one of the most esteemed Queenslanders to have played at the elite level.

Following his retirement in 2006, Voss began a joint career as an assistant coach for the AFL-AIS Academy as well as becoming a popular commentator.

It was in 2009 that he jumped into the full-time coaching box, succeeding his mentor Leigh Matthews as the Lions' senior coach.

He would coach the Lions for five years before stepping down from the role at the end of 2013.

Spending 2014 as the expert coach on FOX8's 'The Recruit' Voss would join Port Adelaide as its midfield manager at the back-end of the year.

In charge of developing the Power's elite midfielders, Voss is an important part in the club's coaching panel and works closely with Ken Hinkley in developing Port Adelaide's exciting game plan.
