PORT ADELAIDE has signed a multi-year partnership with Balfours Bakery, bringing together two of South Australia’s oldest and most iconic brands.

Balfours will be a Principal Partner to Port Adelaide’s AFL side and the Joint Major Sponsor of the club’s SANFL team. Balfours will support the Power’s efforts to create world-class game-day fan experiences and support the development and progress of the Magpies in the SANFL competition.

As part of the three-year agreement, the Balfours logo will be seen on the back of Port Adelaide’s SANFL guernsey.

Established in 1853, Balfours’ history predates Port Adelaide’s by 17 years but with the club to celebrate its 150th anniversary year in 2020, the club’s Chief Executive Keith Thomas says he is delighted to have the two organisations coming together again.

“Balfours Bakery is an iconic South Australian brand with history that dates before even ours,” he said.

“We have grown up together in this great State and must therefore stick together.

“Balfours Bakery and Port Adelaide are the perfect match.”

Port Adelaide Football Club will celebrate its 150th anniversary year with a range of initiatives that reference its origins and success in the sport, including wearing its iconic prison bar guernsey on the national stage in the Round 2 Showdown against Adelaide.

Balfours is proud to have been part of that journey and is thrilled to again be backing the club, especially in its commemorative season.

Balfours Bakery’s Chief Marketing Officer, Erik de Roos, described the partnership as a significant announcement for South Australia.

“We are delighted to have been able to reach an agreement with the Port Adelaide Football Club for this fantastic occasion,” he said.

“Port Adelaide is a proud community-based club with core beliefs shared by our Bakery.

“Balfours has a proud history and longstanding connection with South Australian footy – they go together like grass stains on a guernsey.”
