The fans have spoken, and Sam Powell-Pepper has taken out the Fans MG MVP for Round 6.
Powell-Pepper was influential across the ground in the Power’s 17-point win over the Giants, collecting an equal team-high 22 disposals, 24 pressure acts and 6 inside 50s.
The midfielder also added a goal to his stats sheet, securing Port’s first major of the final term to put his side back in the lead, and kick off the final quarter burst that saw the Power run out on top of the Giants.
Kane Farrell placed a very close second in the voting, with only 10 votes separating the pair.
Farrell was lively throughout the game, racking up 19 disposals, but it was his impressive long-range goal from outside 50 in the final term that was the highlight.
Coming in third in the voting was Dan Houston, who impressed fans with his 22 disposals (equal team high with Powell-Pepper), 11 contested possessions, six intercepts and four clearances.
Houston was pivotal to the Power’s midfield dominance over the Giants, coming out on top in clearances (41-25), centre clearances (12-4), stoppage clearances (29-21) and contested possessions (131-129).
Travis Boak continued the fine form he has shown so far this season, pulling enough of the fan votes to come in fourth, adding another five points to his name to extend his advantage at the top of the leaderboard.
The experienced midfielder started the game red hot and managed the first major of the day, intercepting a Giant’s kick out of defence to have a set shot on goal. Boak finished the afternoon with 16 disposals to his name.
Rounding out this week’s voting was Karl Amon (5th), Ollie Wines (6th), Tom Jonas (7th) and Hamish Hartlett (8th).
The Power this week heads back up to Queensland for the sixth time this season, taking on Carlton at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon.
