Schulz himself has been encouraged by the rehabilitation process but says he will only play if he can run out Thursday's final training session successfully.
"I'm pleased with the way it (the eye) has healed and the club doctor has said it's healing really well," said Schulz.
"It will all depend if I can get through training on Thursday - if I feel 100% I'll play but if not, and if I don't feel comfortable with it, I probably will miss the game."
"I don't want to let the guys down by coming back too early and not being able to perform like I'm capable of."
Port Adelaide plays Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Sunday 13 May at 2.40pm local time.
