THE Port Adelaide squad will fly to Darwin on Thursday morning in order to adjust to the warm and humid conditions of the Northern Territory ahead of its Saturday night clash with Melbourne.

The Power’s do-or-die away game against Melbourne at TIO Stadium is critical to both team’s season and Port forward Brett Ebert says that the club will put its best foot forward in preparation for the match.

“It’s pretty warm up there at the moment compared to good old Adelaide,” said Ebert, who kicked three goals for the Power last Saturday.

“We’ve been doing a bit of stuff with the heat, humidity stuff in the weights room and a little bit at training.

“[We’ve] just been doing a bit of stuff with the heat on at the club and in the swimming pool we’ve had the heat up in there.”

The Port squad will hold a Thursday night skills session at TIO Stadium and is set to conduct a coaching clinic on the following Sunday morning for local supporters before heading back to Adelaide.

“We’ll have a training session on Thursday night and get into it Saturday night,” said Ebert.

“Darwin’s a great spot, we’ve got a lot of supporters up there and we’ll get up there nice and early.

Saturday night’s game is an opportunity for the Power to get its fifth win for the season and after winning against Richmond under lights in Darwin last year, Port Adelaide is looking to bring back several players including captain Dom Cassisi.

“It will be really important to get them back and get up and going,” said Ebert.

“Dom’s close to coming back and David Rodan’s there…obviously they’re some really important players.

“We’ve got a very important game this week, it’s been a tough year but we’ve got games to go and it would be good to have a few more wins starting this week.”
