BULLYING and violence are never okay.

That’s the important message being shared on Friday for the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.

The day is all about connecting schools and communities to find solutions to bullying and violence and empowering young people to join the conversation.

The message is an important part of the Port Adelaide Football Club’s Power to End Violence Against Women program (PTEVAW), run through the not for profit charity arm of the club, Power Community Limited.

The program has been developed to raise awareness around the issue of violence against women and promote respectful relationships to young men and women in Year 10 across schools in South Australia.

Research on domestic violence shows that by the time they reach their teenage years, most young people have experienced or witnessed some form of domestic abuse.

Developed with Centacare Catholic Services and the Department for Education, PTEVAW allows young people to explore respectful relationships and provides the information and skills necessary for them to make informed choices to prevent violent behaviours in society.

In consultation with the Department for Education, the program complements the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum that is delivered in both primary and secondary schools.

On the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, the Port Adelaide Football Club says “Bullying. No Way!”
