Moore joined Port Adelaide as a SANFL contracted player for 2021 and has impressed through the pre-season and opening rounds.

WE’RE only two games into the SANFL season, but Ethan Moore’s start to the year has been impressive for Port Adelaide.

Moore made his debut in the Magpies’ loss to Norwood in the season opener but was one of their best in the come from behind win over Central District on Saturday.

The Mitcham Hawks junior spent time with West Adelaide before taking a year out to play country footy.

“I went to Yankalilla there and played some country footy for a year and I won the best and fairest there,” he told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“Then 'Grimmy' [Shane Grimm] got into contact with me and 'Lokes' [Matthew Lokan] got in contact with me and gave me the opportunity to come out as one of the contracted guys.”

Moore said the experience at Alberton so far has been unbelievable.

“The coaches are great,” he said.

“'Cotts' [Jarrad Cotton] has been really good and obviously I've enjoyed Lokes' coaching as well. He's been fantastic. I've been really enjoying myself at the moment, I've got a couple of league games under my belt now.

“Experience like Joel Garner down back, Jarrod Lienert and Trent McKenzie as well, they're really good to go and learn off.

“Cam Sutcliffe has been really good for me through the midfield, talking to him about structure and the likes.

“All the senior guys have been really good for a young bloke like me.”

Ethan Moore gets a kick away during his Port Adelaide debut at the Parade.

Moore is one of many SANFL contracted players playing for Port Adelaide this year, and he said they have a close bond.

“All the contracted guys, we're a close group and it was good to get a win on the weekend,” he said.

Talking about his aspirations moving forward, Moore said he’s just keeping focused on the year with the Magpies.

“I'm just going to keep trying to have a good crack at SANFL footy and just take in every game,” he said.

“It'd be good to just play out the year with the Port Adelaide SANFL team and see what happens from there.”

Port Adelaide will take on South Adelaide at Noarlunga this Saturday in Round 3 of SANFL action.
