FORWARD Orazio Fantasia will miss Port Adelaide’s next game against Geelong after having a minor surgical procedure on his left knee.

Fantasia had been managing a minor knee complaint in recent weeks and after pulling up sore after the win over Fremantle, went in on Monday morning for a knee arthroscopy.

It was decided that with the club’s mid-year bye this week, it would be the opportune time to have the procedure to allow him to recover without missing too much football.

The 25-year-old is expected to be back within a month

Defender Ryan Burton has pulled up well after jarring his knee and being subbed out in the last quarter of the win over the Dockers. At this stage he hopes to be available to face the Cats on Thursday week.

Fellow backman Jarrod Lienert will follow the AFL’s concussion protocols, including a mandatory minimum 12-day recovery period, after being concussed in the club’s SANFL win over West Adelaide.

Midfielder/Forward Zak Butters is expected to start running again later this week after recovering well from recent surgery to release pressure on a nerve around his left knee.

Port Adelaide players and football staff are on a four-day break ahead of the club’s mid-season bye this weekend.

It next faces Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Thursday 10 June at 7:10pm ACST.
