Port Adelaide's U16 Female Next Generation Academy hit Alberton Oval for a training session.

A host of Port Adelaide’s female Next Generation Academy prospects will get their chance to impress AFLW recruiters in the second of a two-match intra-state series starting tonight.

The second game of the 2021 AFL Under 17 futures series will be played as a curtain raiser to Thursday night’s SANFLW All-Stars match at Thebarton Oval.

13 members of Port Adelaide’s academy side will take part in the second game of the series, which is about helping AFLW recruiters identify emerging talent.

The young women taking part in the futures game range in age from 14 to 17. The eldest of the crop will be eligible to be drafted by AFLW clubs for the 2022-23 season.

There were 12 NGA players in the first game – played as a curtain-raiser for the SANFLW Grand Final on Saturday 5 June, with Norwood’s Molly Brooksby included in team yellow this time after missing out on game one.

The yellow team will also feature Port Adelaide NGA participants Alissa Brook (South Adelaide), Grace McNicol (West Adelaide), Jemma Whitington-Charity (Eagles), Bethany Sigley (West Adelaide), Lucy Boyd (West Adelaide), and Breanna Maynard (South Adelaide).

The blue team also features six Port Adelaide NGA players in Deriney Headon (South Adelaide), Brooke Boileau (South Adelaide), Marlie Fiegert (Eagles), Jayde Hickey (Norwood), Shineah Goody (Eagles) and Chloe Whitington-Charity (Eagles).

The futures match gets underway from 5:45pm with the first bounce in the SANFLW All-Stars game at 7:30pm.
