Orazio Fantasia could return to Port Adelaide's line-up for the first time since Round 11.

FLEET-FOOTED forward Orazio Fantasia is in the mix for a return to Port Adelaide’s line-up for the first time since the end of May.

Fantasia last played in the Round 11 win over Fremantle, booting two goals, before having an arthroscopy in his knee to clear out some loose cartilage.

He had been Port Adelaide’s leading goal kicker to that point with 19 goals, and the former Bomber is now fit and available for selection, hoping to add to his tally and provide a much-needed small forward option in the run in to the finals.

With no SANFL across the weekend because of the lockdown in South Australia, it was hard for players to press their claims for selection, although a number of players performed well in a competitive training hit-out on Saturday which also involved players from Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.

Tom Clurey, Jackson Mead and Joel Garner were among those to put themselves into the selection frame in that outing.

Last week’s emergencies Martin Frederick, Jarrod Lienert, Sam Mayes and Jed McEntee are also around the mark having each appeared at AFL level in recent weeks. Mayes was the unused medical substitute against Collingwood.

Port Adelaide will name an extended 26-man side to face the Giants on Thursday evening before trimming it to 22 on Friday.

The game will be played at 2:40pm ACST / 3:10pm AEST on Sunday at a venue to be confirmed.
