Arriving at the club in 2018, Zak Butters has continued to build on an extremely impressive beginning chapter of his AFL career.
Known for his hard-at-the-ball attitude and silky skills, Butters is a favourite among the Port Adelaide faithful. Managing all 25 games of Port Adelaide's 2023 season, Butters enjoyed a breakout year that saw him average 27.5 disposals, 5 marks and 4.4 clearances - all ranked 'elite' by Champion Data. An incredible year on the park saw the young gun announce himself as one of the competition's best emerging mids.
He was recognised by the league as one of the best players in the competition by collecting his first John Cahill Medal at the club's best and fairest count, while also receiving his maiden All-Australian blazer, AFLCA's Champion Player of the Year Award, AFLPA's Most Courageous Player Award - as well as third place in AFLPA's MVP Award - at the AFL Awards for an outstanding 2023 season.
In a testament to his strong leadership skills, Butters is the club's vice-captain - supporting captain and best mate Connor Rozee in the 2024 season and beyond.

The Port Adelaide Football Club acknowledges the land on which we train and play, are based on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We also acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of Australia and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living people today.
