Mitch Georgiades was the draft night bolter in 2019 when Port Adelaide snapped him up with its second first-round pick of the night.
Many didn’t have the high-flying West Australian as high on their mock drafts after he missed his entire top age year of footy with a nasty quad injury, however, it didn’t take long for him to make a positive impression at Alberton.
Georgiades pressed his claim for selection during a strong pre-season campaign and went on to debut in Round 1, kicking two goals. He continued to catch the eye with his powerful leading ability and thumping shot for goal, earning the NAB Rising Star nomination for his three-goal performance against Melbourne in Round 9.
