Ken Hinkley celebrates with his team after last year's Qualifying Final win.

KEN HINKLEY will become just the second person to coach Port Adelaide to 200 AFL games when he leads his side out against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night.

The 54-year-old will be coaching his 192nd home and away season game with eight finals bringing his tally to the double century.

Here is how Hinkley stacks up in the club’s record books:

2012 - Hinkley was appointed Port Adelaide Senior Coach in October 2012, capping a highly successful career as an assistant coach with a number of AFL clubs.

300 – Hinkley qualified for AFL Life membership in July last year when he clocked up 300 games as a player and coach. He had 132 VFL/AFL games as a player (11 at Fitzroy in 1987-88 and 121 at Geelong from 1989-95) to go with three state games for Victoria, before embarking on his coaching career.

2 – Hinkley has twice been named the AFL Coaches Association Coach of the Year (2013 and 2020)

4 – Port Adelaide is Hinkley’s fourth club as a coach. He was an assistant at St Kilda in 2001, at Geelong between 2004-2009 and at Gold Coast from 2010-2012 before landing his first senior coaching role at Alberton.

119 – Hinkley has tasted victory in 115 home and away games to go with four finals. 2004 Premiership coach Mark Williams is the only person to win more AFL games as coach of the club with 150 in his 273 games.

59.80 – Hinkley’s winning percentage of 59.80% ranks as best among Port Adelaide’s AFL coaches, other than the late Phil Walsh’s one win in one game. His regular season record is even better at 60.21. Mark Williams is next best with 55.31 per-cent including finals.

100 – Hinkley has a 100 per-cent record against the Gold Coast with 11 wins in 11 games. His record against St Kilda is nine wins from ten games, while seven wins from nine games against North Melbourne represents the next best against any opponent.

17 – Hinkley has guided Port Adelaide into battle against Adelaide on 17 occasions – the most of any opponent (for nine wins and eight losses). Fremantle is the next best with 13 games. Port Adelaide has only played North Melbourne nine times under Hinkley – the fewest of any opponent.

13 – Hinkley has coached against Richmond coach Damien Hardwick 13 times - more times than he has faced any other coach. That includes two finals. Geelong’s Chris Scott is next best with 12 encounters between the pair.

3 – There are only three coaches Hinkley has never beaten and all only coached against him once. Mark Thompson, John Barker and Scott Camporeale are the only AFL coaches who can lay claim to having a 100 per-cent record against Hinkley.
