PORT ADELAIDE defender Ryan Burton feels comfortable in the Power’s defensive set-up, after moving to Alberton in last year’s trade period.

Burton has slotted in seamlessly at half-back, with the rebounding defender using the pre-season to absorb the knowledge of Port’s game plan.

“I’ve felt pretty settled all through the home-and-away season,” Burton said at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

“I used the JLT to sort of find my feet. I guess a few players were working out the new game plan we had, and I was obviously implementing it for the first time.

“The home-and-away season has been fine for me, and returning from injury has been fine as well.

“I’ve just been playing my role and happy to keep doing that.”

The former Hawk says he is really settled in the back-half of the ground, and is enjoying the chemistry of Port’s defensive group.

“I won’t be knocking on Kenny’s door to play me on the wing or anything,” Burton said.

“I’m really happy down back and really comfortable with the back six or seven that we have now.

“If Kenny wants to play me there then I’m more than happy to fill that position, but I’m really happy down back.

“I think I’m playing my role every week, which the team needs, and there are some outstanding mids and wingmen who can come in a fill (Amon’s) spot.”

The 22-year-old says the Power can take a lot from the win against Geelong , ahead of this weekend’s huge clash with the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide on Saturday night.

“It gives us a lot of confidence,” Burton said.

“It shows once we do put a four-quarter performance together, we can beat the best in the comp.

“We’ve matched it with a lot of the best sides this year so far, and fallen short in a quarter here or there.

“I guess it was the first time we played a really good, four-quarter performance against one of the top eight sides.”

The Power host the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night in another blockbuster clash in front a home crowd.
