Port Adelaide’s new coaching team will be proudly powered by Envestra from 2013, with Australia’s leading natural gas distributor extending its partnership with the club.

Envestra has been a premier partner of the club since the start of 2011 and after two seasons with its name and logo emblazoned on the players’ shorts, the company has committed to becoming the coaches’ sponsor from next season.

The announcement coincides with the appointment of Ken Hinkley as Port Adelaide’s new senior coach.

Envestra managing director Ian Little welcomed Hinkley’s appointment and that of Alan Richardson as director of coaching, together with the return of Darren Burgess to Alberton as high performance manager.

“This is another step in Port Adelaide’s journey to once again assume a significant place in the AFL competition,” Mr Little said.

“We are pleased, as an Adelaide-based ASX-listed company, that we can support the club in what in recent times has been a particularly challenging environment.

“Clearly the club is going through a significant period of change and we look forward to a successful contribution from the new coach and offer our congratulations on his appointment.”

Port Adelaide CEO Keith Thomas thanked Envestra for its new commitment, which will see Envestra’s logo shift to the coaches’ training and match-day attire.

“Port Adelaide has been honoured to have Envestra, particularly as a major listed and South Australian-based company, with us for the past two seasons,” Mr Thomas said.

“This significant extension of our partnership is a measure of the way we’ve been able to work together to the benefit of all parties.

“We are embarking on a new era with Ken Hinkley as our senior coach and with a number of other key appointments, and we are grateful to the entire team at Envestra for demonstrating their commitment to us by being an important part of that journey.

“Envestra has again shown that it’s a company committed to the community through both its core business of delivering natural gas and through its support of important local institutions like Port Adelaide.”

Envestra Ltd is Australia’s leading distributor of natural gas with networks in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

The company - which has its head office in Adelaide - delivers gas on behalf of retailers to over 1.1 million customers.

Envestra has a history in South Australia and Victoria - two of the key AFL markets - dating back to the 1860s, just a few years before the birth of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

In addition to being a premier partner and coaches’ sponsor of Port Adelaide, Envestra supported the club’s unique Power to End Hunger program with Foodbank in its inaugural year in 2012.
