Tyson Goldsack and Hamish Hartlett will take on new coaching roles at Alberton in 2022.

PORT ADELAIDE has confirmed its coaching structure for 2023 with three new appointments, including Tyson Goldsack as senior coach of the club’s SANFL team.

Goldsack has been part of the coaching program since joining the club in a dual development coach and SANFL leadership player role at the end of 2019.

He becomes the 41st person to coach the club’s SANFL side, and will also remain a forward line development coach.

Former club vice-captain Hamish Hartlett will also move into a full-time position after accepting a role as a development coach.

Hartlett, who played 193 games for the club across 13 seasons, returned to Alberton earlier this year as a part-time assistant coach in the AFLW program.

The 32-year-old combined his coaching role with being the Youth Development Manager at the West Adelaide Football Club, but will shift full-time into the Power’s men’s program where he will work with the club’s emerging defenders.

Under the coaching revamp, Nathan Bassett will coach the club’s backline – a role he held for three seasons from 2016-2018 – while Chad Cornes will take charge of the forward line, assisted by Goldsack.

The club has previously confirmed the appointment of Josh Carr as midfield coach, after stints at North Adelaide and Fremantle.

Midfield development coach Luke Kelly will retain the position and work with Carr to oversee the on-ball brigade.

Ruck coach Matthew Lobbe will also take on a newly created role as Head of Development.

“After reviewing the season, we committed to freshening up our coaching group with different roles for existing personnel and new voices in the line-up,” said General Manager – Football, Chris Davies.

“We are looking forward to having Josh guiding our midfield group and seeing Hamish work with our young defenders.

“Hamish has had a very smooth transition into the coaching space with the club’s women’s program while maintaining his interest in developing young players through his work at West Adelaide.

“We are pleased with the balance within our coaching set-up and the support we will have around both our players and senior coach Ken Hinkley.”
