PORT ADELAIDE has made two list changes and extended the contracts of two players following the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

The club has delisted forwards Martin Frederick and Dylan Williams but has committed to reselecting Williams in the AFL Rookie Draft in November.

Forward Jed McEntee and midfielder Trent Dumont have accepted one-year contract extensions until the end of 2023.

Frederick, a product of the club’s Next Generation Academy, played 14 games after debuting against St Kilda in Round 6 2021. He played six games this season with his final outing against the Gold Coast in Round 15.

Williams, 21, was recruited with pick 23 at the 2019 AFL National Draft and played one game at AFL level, debuting against Sydney in Round 15 2021. He played every game for Port Adelaide in the SANFL this season, kicking 20 goals.

McEntee continues at Alberton after coming to the club via the 2021 AFL Mid-Season Draft. He has played 10 games for the Power since his debut in Round 18 2021, including the last five games as a small forward in 2022.

Dumont, who arrived at Port Adelaide via the 2021 AFL Rookie Draft, will also continue his career at Alberton having played eight games for the Power this season. He had previously played 113 games for North Melbourne since his debut in 2015.

Port Adelaide List Manager Jason Cripps thanked Frederick for his contribution to the club.

“Marty is a much loved player at our club who came through our Next Generation Academy program,” Cripps said.

“Unfortunately, we have reached the time of the year where we have to make tough decisions regarding the future of our list.

“After four years on our list, Marty was unable to establish himself as a consistent performer within our AFL team and we have had to make the difficult decision not to offer him a contract moving forward.

“We wish Marty all the best for the future and he will always be welcome here at Port Adelaide.”

Cripps said the club was excited to provide further opportunities for McEntee, Dumont and Williams.

“Trent, Jed and Dylan are all at different stages of their careers but we are equally pleased to have them continue for at least another year,” Cripps said.

“Jed has attributes that we value and we were impressed with his finish to this season at AFL level as a small pressure forward.

“Trent has played more than 100 AFL games providing experience and leadership for our younger emerging players and continues to play a role as a hard running midfielder.

“And whilst we will de-list Dylan from our Primary List we have committed to recruiting him via the National Rookie Draft in November.”

Port Adelaide will finalise its 2023 playing list at the AFL National Draft, being held at Marvel Stadium on November 28 and 29.

Currently, the club enters the Draft with selections 33 and 60.
