Key forward Ashleigh Saint has recommitted to Port Adelaide after agreeing to a contract extension which will keep her at the club until the end of the 2026 AFLW season.

In her debut season with the club in 2023, Saint boosted the Power’s goalkicking options, booting 14 goals in nine games.

The Salisbury and North Adelaide SANFLW product has formed a formidable partnership with fellow forward target Gemma Houghton and the duo is only likely to be more dangerous following a season playing together.

“I have loved my time at Port Adelaide so far,” Saint said. “Having grown up a Port supporter, it has been an absolute dream to play for the club.

“The culture of the club and the people who make it up are something special – we’re like a big family.

“I have some strong connections within our playing and coaching group, and I know we are building something that I am excited to be a part of for at least the next three years.”

Now 25-years-old, Saint is one of the club’s more experienced players, having been part of the Adelaide Crows Premiership side in season six in 2022 – a campaign in which she was the AFLW’s leading goalkicker and was named an All-Australian.

Originally drafted by Melbourne, Saint spent three years at West Lakes before crossing to Alberton ahead of last season.

Port Adelaide list manager Naomi Maidment said Saint’s experience, professionalism and talent had brought significant value to the club.

“Ash settled into our club really well last season and provided a new threat in our forward line alongside Gemma and our other forwards,” said Maidment.

“She is now reaching her prime and we are excited to see her continue to grow her game and remain one of the best forwards in the competition.”

Saint will bring up her 50th AFLW game in her next appearance for the club.

She has booted 58 goals since her debut for the Demons in 2019.
