Hi everyone, my name is Nathan Risitano and I have been newly appointed to the role of Youth Programs Coordinator.

I completed a Bachelor of Secondary Education at Tabor College Adelaide and have spent the past few years teaching at a number of primary and secondary schools in the southern area. This has given me the ability to work with many students that have come from diverse backgrounds in State and Independent Schools. I have also had the opportunity to work closely with adolescents that have advantaged/disadvantaged backgrounds and/or disabilities.

As the newest Youth Programs Coordinator, my role is to conduct the following programs: Empowering Youth, Youth in Power and Power of STEM. The programs focus on engaging adolescents in school or through the Port Adelaide community.

The Power of STEM is the newest program, which has been developed with Naval Group to provide Year 10 students the opportunity to explore new and exciting career opportunities. The program links in with Stage 1 Personal Learning Plan (PLP) and provides an insight into the opportunities within the line of STEM careers for both now and into the future.

I am excited with the new opportunity that I have been given by the Port Adelaide Football Club. Having the ability to link my passion for teaching through an established and well-respected football club is a phenomenal opportunity.

William Arthur Ward once quoted, “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”

I believe there is nothing more rewarding than watching a young person grow and develop into a respectful adult. I look forward to inspiring the students in my programs to becoming the best they potentially can be.
