PORT ADELAIDE midfielder turned forward Brad Ebert is enjoying Port’s faster, more attacking brand of football at the start of the 2019 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

The Power is ranked first in the AFL for disposals and inside 50s, and also sit second for mark play on percentage so far this season.

Ebert says the style of football has made his transition into the forward half of the ground a lot easier.

“As a forward, I’m loving it,” Ebert said at a press conference this morning.

“It probably makes the forward’s movement a little bit more predictable.

“You are able to time your run and time your leads a little bit differently and you are able to catch defences off guard.

“The way that we are trying to play is a lot more attacking, a lot more free-flowing and hopefully that is translating to better performances and more wins.”

The 29-year-old knows his side needs to back up its impressive 42-point victory against West Coast at Optus Stadium to become a more consistent side.

“We are definitely keen on making sure that level of consistency is something we are really trying to build and to strive for,” he said.

“I think for the most part of this year we have been able to play some pretty consistent footy.

“Looking across the board and for the most part we have been able to sustain that consistency.

“We’ve probably let ourselves down in a couple of games though.”

The Power faces North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Friday night in ANZAC Round, and Ebert knows what threat the Kangaroos pose.

“North Melbourne - we played them earlier in the pre-season - were a strong, competitive side and we know that,” he said.

“We know they will come out hard and come out keen to make amends for how their season has started.

“The way the comp is these days, everyone is coming out firing and more times than not, there aren’t too many easy wins.”
