HAMISH Hartlett is the only inclusion in the Power’s final 22 to face Richmond, with Kane Cornes passing a fitness test for on his injured shoulder during training at AAMI Stadium today. Cornes will continue his incredible run, playing in his 135th consecutive match, a streak dating back to Round 17, 2003.

Hartlett replaces the in-form Steven Salopek, who is likely to miss a couple of weeks with a sublaxation of his shoulder. Marlon Motlop, Matt Westhoff and Toby Thurstans have been named as emergencies for Sunday’s game.

Football Manager Peter Rohde said Hartlett’s versatility would be a handy addition to the Power side.

“Salopek’s going to miss a couple of weeks with a shoulder injury and that’s a big loss to the team given his form over the first seven weeks of the season,” Rohde said.

“Fortunately we get Hamish Hartlett back at the same time, and he’s quite a similar player. We’ve been really excited by what Hamish has been able to show us so far, but his season has been interrupted with a couple of different injuries, first a shoulder then a hamstring.

“So we’re hoping he can string some games together to get some continuity in his season. I think anyone who has seen him play will appreciate the poise and skill that he brings to the group.

“He’s very versatile – he can play as a goal kicking forward, in the back line, on a wing or in the midfield – and we really want to develop him in that way,.

“Obviously there was quite a lot of doubt over Kane during the week, but he’s improved immeasurably as the week’s gone on and we don’t anticipate we’ll do any more testing on him and he’ll be right to go.”

Rohde said the three emergencies were all just waiting for an opportunity to arise, with Thurstans and Westhoff ready to replace a tall forward or back if needed.

“They’ve both (Thurstans and Westhoff) been in good form in the SANFL, and we know they are good enough to step up when required,” he said.

“Marlon’s also been knocking on the door for weeks with some great form for North Adelaide. He’s unlucky not to be playing, but his time will come.”
