Jake Patmore on the recovery from his ACL injury last year:

“It’s going really well, I’m on track to play round 1, so I’m really excited.

“Last year was obviously a very frustrating year, it’s just good to be at the back end of it now - seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, I guess.

“It all happened so quickly, I didn’t really know what to feel,”

“I was playing in the second practice match, so I didn’t really get a chance to do much throughout the year.

“Just playing footy has got me through, and having the backing of the club to have faith in me by signing on for another year, was really good.

Patmore on the move to South Australia:

“It was really easy with my Dad being here.

“Having the family connection here was nice. It was hard leaving family and friends back home, but I’ve settled in really well and I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

Patmore on the advice for new draftees:

“I reckon just soak it all in, it’s such a whirlwind.

“You’ve got to just listen to everyone you come into contact with, especially at the club. You have to somehow block out the noise of the public and the media.

“Just listen to your coaches and teammates, and just make sure you’re not too arrogant going into it.

Patmore on who has been a mentor for him during his time at Port Adelaide:

“Trav Boak has been my mentor for most of my time at the club.

“He has helped me out a lot along the way.

“Hamish Hartlett as well. He’s been helping me with my injury rehab because he did his ACL midway through my first year.

“Those two have been a big help for me so far.

Patmore on his role at the club during his rehab:

“It’s a little bit hard seeing other people play when you think you could be out there yourself.

“I just stayed there supporting the rest of the boys and that’s all you can really do when you’re in rehab.

“I helped support as much as I could, especially with the Magpies. I tried to get down to as many games as I could because I’ve got a lot of mates at the club who had phenomenal years.

“It was good to see them and their success, and hopefully I get the same thing next year.

Patmore on his playing role in 2020:

“I would love to see what happens with the midfield roles.

“Hopefully I can get a bit of time in there in the SANFL, and maybe push my case. But I’m not really thinking too far ahead at the moment.

“I’m just trying to get my body right, stay fit, and stay out on the track.

Patmore on Jack Watts:

“He’s been another big help for me.

“He broke his leg two weeks after I did my ACL, so we have been in rehab the whole time together ticking all of the boxes we can.

“We have been in every session together since the start of the year. It’s been really good having him there, also Charlie Dixon.

“Those two have been a big help.

Patmore on who has impressed in pre-season so far:

“Everyone has come back in really good nick.

“Zak Butters has been running really well. It will be exciting to see him back in full flight after having an operation on his shoulder.

Patmore on the club’s 150th year celebrations:

“We had a special presentation of our jumpers and the logo at our best and fairest.

“We got first glimpse of that, which was awesome.

“We are a proud club. Every year we are trying to win premierships. This year is just like the rest of them, but it is special because of the big milestone.
