Trent Burgoyne tackles Aqua Park Bli Bli on the final day of Port Adelaide's pre-season camp.

PORT ADELAIDE players spent the final day of their pre-season camp on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast at a water park, bonding and completing a series of challenges.

Here rookie Trent Burgoyne provides an insight into the last day of the seven-day camp.

Today we went to a water park at Bli Bli for some fun and a team challenge. I though it was going to be a couple of pools and water slides and I was thinking I’d just have some fun and do a few flips. When we got there it was this huge inflatable thing on a lake. It was pretty cool and I knew we’d have some fun on there.

We had teams we were put in before we came into camp so we had a pretty good team. I think it was pretty much the same squads as we had for paintball a few days ago. We had three courses and it was all about which team finished with the best times. I don’t think we won. In fact I reckon we might have come last but it was a good team exercise because you had to try and help your teammates.

Part of the course were really hard and you had to try get over the obstacles. It was really slippery and if you tried to run you’d just slip over. Willem Drew was like a fish. Somehow, he just managed to keep his balance. I think he might have big feet or something. I was pretty bad. Every time I’d pass an obstacle I’d slip on my back and I probably looked like an idiot. Thankfully we had life jackets on so if I went into the water I could just float. Butters I could tell didn’t know what he was doing but he wasn’t in my team so I didn’t have to worry about him.

I was pretty exhausted afterwards but it was pretty funny because the courses would sort of collide together so we’d see the other teams and try to take each other out. At one point near the end there were a few boys going at it on this little path and they were all pushing each other in so I just slid under everyone’s legs and got out.

The last few days together have been great. We’ve worked really hard and spent some quality time together and it’s just the start of what we expect to be a big 2020 season. I’ve loved the camp, it’s been amazing for me in terms of what I wanted to achieve. I wanted to find my rhythm and get my body to where it needs to be at. I’m looking forward to the break but at the same time I think I’ll be bored because we won’t have that training every day. Now I can’t wait to get back into it in Adelaide!
