Tom Rockliff on Ollie Wines:

“He got through the whole session,”

“Now it’s a medical decision in terms of team selection wise. He completed the session and felt pretty comfortable out there.

“Whether he’s ready or not to go will depend on how he pulls up tomorrow, and we will move into the rest of the week from there.”

“Ollie is an outstanding player,”

“He brings plenty of run and grunt work inside for us as well. Any time we have Ollie out there, we are a better team and we perform better.

“If he gets up this week, it will be great for us.”

Rockliff on the loss to GWS:

“We reviewed it pretty well,”

“It was probably one that got away from us. We felt like we had our chances, particularly late in the game. We just didn’t take them.

“We reviewed that and moved on pretty quickly. Essendon is our focus now and we know we have to win this weekend, and we haven’t looked too far past that.”

Rockliff on Essendon:

“We’ve had a look at Essendon’s game-style and the way they play,”

“They are obviously finishing games really well and running over the top of teams. You know they are never out of it.

“We want to go there and play our way. Play our footy that we know we can play, and our best footy some of the best footy we’ve seen all season.”

Rockliff on the feeling at Alberton this week:

“I know this is a really good club, everyone enjoys coming to work,”

“I know footy the staff - whether it’s a player or coach - enjoy turning up wanting to improve and want to get better.

“It hasn’t affected us too much to be honest. The week hasn’t altered for us at all. We know what we’ve got to do to win games of footy, and we aren’t doing it consistently at the moment.

“We felt like we should’ve walked away with a win on the weekend but it didn’t pan out that way, so there were positives to take out of it, but there are room for improvement areas to work on.”

Rockliff on Dixon and Motlop in the SANFL last weekend:

“I think everyone in the Magpies kept pressure on the AFL team,”

“Those two (Dixon and Motlop) particularly because they went back and performed really well. They did everything asked of them by the coaches.

“They’ve set themselves up to push for selection again this weekend. I think there is match committee this afternoon, and there’s no doubt those boys will put pressure on the coaches to select them again.”

Rockliff on the young talent at Port Adelaide:

“I’m really excited by the young talent we’ve got through the doors in the last few years in the draft,”

“I think the footy club is in a really good position. As I said, it’s a really happy environment. Everyone enjoys coming. Everyone wants to get better.

“Our best footy has been really good throughout the season, we just haven’t been able to emulate that every week.”

Rockliff on external noise in the media:

"You don't really get caught up in that,"

"If you catch yourself reading it too much, you can start to buy into it and change your mindset off what your job is and what your focus is.

"Our job is to train really hard, prepare ourselves so we can perform on the weekend and walk away with the four points."

Rockliff on Watts:

“He’s really good,”

“He started running again. He’s started to run and join in a bit, and hopefully his rehab continues to progress in the right direction and there are no more hiccups.

“The positive thing is he has started to run and get movement in that ankle.

Rockliff on the media discussion surrounding Hinkley:

"I know the playing group has complete faith in him,"

“Ken has really good relationships with a lot of people within the footy club. The players look up to him.

"He's hard when he has to be hard, and he's fair when he has to be fair, but I think all the guys know where they stand with him, and you can't ask for anything else than that from a senior coach.

"A coach that cares about you, but will tell you how it is and have those conversations with you."
