PORT ADELAIDE defender Alipate Carlile is unlikely to play in the Power's NAB Cup opener at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.

Carlile experienced hamstring tightness during Port's intra-club match on Friday night.

Power football manager Peter Rohde said the club was hoping Carile had simply experienced back spasms.

"We don't think it's anything serious, but we'll assess him during the week," Rohde said.

"We're not going to risk any player at this stage of the season."
