PORT ADELAIDE star Robbie Gray knows the importance of the next month of football, as his side eyes more consistent performances.

Gray says the group was proud of its four-quarter effort against the ladder-leading Geelong last week, but has quickly moved on to the task of Saturday night.

“It’s probably been a bit of a problem for us, we’ve been a little inconsistent,” Gray told SEN SA’s Breakfast program.

“We’ve won one, lost one the last month or so. We’ve moved on pretty quickly from Geelong - we reviewed it really hard and took some things out of the way we prepared.

“We have moved on quickly this week and preparing really strongly again.”

Port has a stretch of three games at Adelaide Oval in the next three weeks, and the mercurial forward is imploring his side to continue the form it showed against the Cats.

“It’s a pretty important time of year,” Gray said.

“We are sitting 7-6 and in seventh position on the ladder, so we need to start stringing a few wins together.

“We have the next three at Adelaide Oval now, so that’s good and we want to put in a strong of strong performances.”

Gray is well aware of how damaging the Western Bulldogs can be, and isn’t reading anything into where they currently sit on the AFL ladder.

“They’ve got some quality players,” he said.

“Bontempelli, Macrae and Dunkley - these guys are getting plenty of the ball, so it’s going to be another challenge for our midfield group.

“They have some quality ball-users off half-back as well - Caleb Daniel is getting a ton of it, and Johannissen and these sorts of guys like to use it pretty well.

“They put in a pretty strong performance against Collingwood, and it will be another challenge for us - one we are looking forward too.”

The Power host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, with the first bounce commencing at 7.10pm.
