ALIIR ALIIR has joined the Port Adelaide Football Club after a trade was completed with Sydney.
Aliir arrives at Alberton on a four-year deal, which sees the club’s future second-round draft pick traded to the Swans.
The 26-year-old has played 64 AFL games since being drafted at pick 44 in the 2013 National Draft from East Perth in the WAFL.
Renowned for his intercept marking and drive out of defence, the athletic backman has also spent time in the ruck, where his high vertical leap has made him a valuable backup option.
“Aliir has impressed us during his time with Sydney with his defensive work and his ability to spend time in the ruck,” said General Manager – Football, Chris Davies.
“We see him adding depth to our key defensive stocks and we think he is capable of fitting in with our overall defensive system.
“His speed, athleticism and intercept marking will certainly add value to our team, and we look forward to welcoming him to the club.”
Aliir averages 2.4 intercept marks per game, ranking him as elite for a defender, while he also averages 14 disposals and 2.8 rebound 50s per game.
